Gift guide: mum-to-be gifts that she will love
Perfect gifts for a first time or third time mum.
It can be hard to find the perfect mum-to-be gift, whether it’s for your partner who has recently found out they’re pregnant or for your best friend who is due to have their baby soon. There’s only so many newborn outfits one baby needs. So what can you get that’s a little bit different, that they will really love and get plenty of use out of?
I’ve put together a list of my favourite mum-to-be gifts, all of which have been tried and tested by myself at one time or another. With gifts just for mum as well as gifts for baby, this list is perfect for a modern mama expecting their first, second… or fifth… child. They’re also great for Mums who have recently had a baby.
1. Double-walled Mug
A practical and essential item for any hot drink loving mama. When you’ve got a newborn baby, it’s impossible to drink a hot drink whilst it’s still actually hot. A double-walled mug will help keep drinks hotter for longer. She’ll definitely thank you for this one later!
2. Oh Mumma Beauty Box
Oh Mumma create stylish subscription boxes full of the most beautiful and useful products for the modern mum. If you don’t want to commit to a subscription, you can buy a one-off box. I recently sent one of these to my newbie mama friend and she loved it.
3. Everything Bag
I have one of these bags and they are SO useful. You can, quite literally, fit everything in there … a godsend for mums as leaving the house with a baby (and toddler!) requires lot of stuff. This bag is great for throwing everything in… nappies, wipes, muslins, bottles, dummies, snacks, clothes, gloves…EVERYTHING.
4. Monthly Baby Milestone Cards
I love these big, bold, bright monthly milestone cards by Tee & Toast. It’s amazing how quickly babies change during the first year and these cards really help to capture these changes month by month.
5. Aden & Anais Muslin Swaddles
These really are the only muslins worth buying. They are so, so soft and they wash really well. The swaddle muslins are also really big, which is so useful. There’s loads of beautiful patterns to choose from too. Once she’s used these, no other muslin will cut it.
6. This is Your Story
It would be remiss of me not to mention my luxury baby record book, This is Your Story. It does make a really special gift for a mum-to-be, allowing them to capture all of the memories, milestones and magical moments during their child’s early years, from pregnancy through to 5 years old. It comes in a beautiful white gift box too, for easy gifting.
7. Toy Sharing Subscription Box
This toy sharing subscription service is AMAZING and would make such a useful gift for a mum-to-be. You pay a one-off fee and, depending how much much you spend, the recipient then gets credits to ‘spend’ at the toy shop each month. They can exchange their toys as often as they like, for as long as the subscription lasts (between 1 - 12 months).
8. Skin to Skin Top
When it comes to maternity and nursing clothing, Seraphine can do no wrong… great quality, great choice and it washes really well. Spending time skin to skin with your newborn is so important and also SO special and this top makes it really easy. The soft stretch cotton is gentle on babies skin too. This is definitely a gift they won’t have already bought.
