Baby record books - Why spend more when you can spend less?

There are a number of baby record books on the market, sold for a range of different prices. So if there is cheaper options available, why spend more when you can spend less?

2 years in the making, This is Your Story has been a real labour of love. I’ve poured my heart and soul into designing the baby record book I wish I could have found when I was pregnant. From the beginning I had a clear idea of what I wanted to create. I knew that I was designing more than just a book. I was designing an heirloom, something that would be passed on from parent to child, something that would be looked at and cherished for years to come. A moment in time, never to be repeated again, captured forever across its pages.

So when I think about ways to bring the cost down, I start to feel a little disheartened. Yes, it could be cheaper, but then we would have to lose the beautiful white, gold foiled gift box, which is perfect for safely storing your book and keeping your pen in, along with loose photographs and pieces of paper ready to stick in. I could have made it cheaper by making it smaller, but then the pages wouldn’t be as big, meaning much less room for recording your memories and for sticking in photographs. I could have opted for a simple wire bound book, rather than the luxury ring binder, but then you wouldn’t have been able to personalise the book to suit your family by adding and removing pages. I could have used a cheaper paper stock for the pages, but then your pen would have leaked through to the other side, making the pages messy and illegible.

It’s true, there are ways I could have made this baby record book cheaper, but it would have meant making it less than perfect. And for a book that will forever hold all of the memories from the happiest years of your life, well, it deserves to be perfect.
