Small business Christmas gift guide: new mums and mums-to-be
As we approach Christmas and start to think about buying gifts for our loved ones, it’s now more important than ever that we try and shop with small business and local businesses as much as possible.
So may small businesses are struggling in the wake of increased living costs and energy costs and have sadly had to close their doors for good. It’s all too easy to turn to the big websites that offer an abundance of choice and next day delivery, but what they don’t offer is personal customer service and carefully crafted and thought out products. They don’t offer hand written gift cards and beautifully wrapped packages. They don’t offer premium quality and unique gifts.
So to take some of the legwork out of it for you, I’ve put together a list of my favourite gifts for new and soon-to-be mums, all sourced from small businesses that have worked really hard to create products that you will love and that will last.
Organic Cotton Jumpsuit, £95
Beyond Nine make gorgeous clothing for pregnancy and beyond. This gorgeous jumpsuit is made from wonderfully soft 100% organic cotton sweatshirt fleece and is designed to work with or without a bump. Drop arm holes make for easy access for breastfeeding too.
The Sleepless Society Jumper, £40
Can anyone ever have enough jumpers? This one is perfect for new mamas, when sleep really is overrated! It can be gift wrapped with a hand written message too,
Luxury Baby Record Book, £45
I couldn‘t exclude my own product from this list! It makes a really special gift that the recipient will keep for a lifetime. Our luxury baby record book comes inside a gorgeous white gift box and gives new parents a place to record and remember all of the magical moments from pregnancy through to 5 years old.
New mum pamper gift set, £20
This New Mama Pamper Gift Set is full of goodies, including Wonder Worker, a multi-tasking balm that’s perfect for softening lips, soothes wind-chapped skin, and even protecting babies' behinds!
Mama Large Tote Bag, £23.50
I’m a big fan of a big bag and never is it more needed that when you start having kids. There’s always so much to take out and about with you and this bag is perfect for chucking it all in. They do a range of other oversized totes too.
Caring Hand Cream, £19.99
I love this hand cream. It’s so, so nice and always leaves my hands feeling super soft. This easy dispenser bottle makes it even more special, especially when juggling a newborn baby, and for every product you buy, they give a month's worth of free Nursem to a nurse or midwife.
Silicone Teething/Breastfeeding Necklace, £12.50
Stylish for mama, practical for baby. These silicone necklaces are designed to be both tactile and interesting for baby to grab whilst feeding and safe for baby to chew when teething.
Personalised bracelet, £37
Choose from gold, silver or rose gold and choose any combination of letters to create a beautiful, personalised bracelet for the new or soon-to-be mama in your life.
A Year of Cards, £36
There’s not a lot of time for shopping when you have a baby, so why not treat them to a year of cards? This box of cards covers everything from birthdays and thank yous to weddings and new homes. They’ll never be short of a greeting card!
One Day, £12
Kate Phipps writes the most beautiful words. This poem is a celebration of parenthood, a reminder that one day all of the beautiful chaos will be a memory.
Soy Wax Candle, from £15
Handcrafted from beer bottles in Staffordshire, these candles smell so good and they look very cool too. They come in a range of sizes and scents and make a beautiful gift.
Ceramic Mug, £12
Show me a new mum who doesn’t drink tea or coffee like there’s no tomorrow. Granted, it might not always stay hot (thanks baby), but at least it will always look beautiful in these wonderful biscuit mugs from Nova & Me.
