Unisex kid’s clothing, because girls like blue and boys like pink
I’ve been discovering so many new clothing brands on Instagram recently and I’ve been particularly loving the unisex kid’s clothing. As a mama to a girl and a boy, unisex clothing is so, so useful, as once my daughter has outgrown it, my son can get some wear out of it too.
High Street retailers lead us to believe there are clothes for girls and clothes for boys, but this doesn’t always have to be the case. No, you probably won’t buy your son a frilly summer dress (sorry Harry Styles) but there are so many items that can easily be interchanged between genders. T-shirts, sweaters, leggings, coats… these things can last your kids much, much longer when you buy unisex items that both girls and boys will love equally. Not only will it save you money but it’s much better for the environment too, as you’re buying less. The other great thing about these brands is that the quality is so good, that they’ll be perfect for passing on once your kids are done with them. Another environmental win.
So although you can expect to pay a little more shopping with smaller brands (small batches, ethically made, sustainable - all the good stuff), you really do get what you pay for. You are buying items that will last, wear after wear, wash after wash. There’s no fast fashion here. It’s all about longevity and getting the most out of each item, passing things down from brother to sister to cousin. Plus, there are some seriously gorgeous pieces that you just won’t find on the High Street.
Here are some are the brands I’m loving at the moment.
